TECHNOLOGY AND TOOLS

Design Forward

Weekly Dispatch: Monday, June 22, 2026

Hello Folks — today marks the start of the fourth and final week of our Technology and Tools module. I hope you all have been enjoying the work we’ve done so far and that you’re able to finish strong this week. If June has been super busy for you and you haven’t had a lot of time to devote to the module, I encourage you to dig in!

While this is technically our final week of the module, we won’t actually be kicking of the July module, Designing for Education, until July 6th. That means you can work on wrapping up by this Friday the 26th and have next week “off” OR you could take the next two weeks to really dive into Tech and Tools further.

Definitely, by July 3rd you should be wrapping up your work here. While Tech & Tools won’t be going anywhere (and you’re always welcome to revisit and continue to engage in the module), we want you to be able to really focus your attention on Designing for Education next month.

I have a few tips/pointers/suggestions to help you focus this week:

  • If you haven’t already, take a look at the portfolios of others in the module and leave a comment on something they’ve written or created! I recommend starting with Kayla’s The AI Is In the House!
  • Go back and review the topics of this module and consider if anything in the slides, video, topic page strikes you differently now than when you first reviewed them; share your thoughts in a reflection on your portfolio.
  • Jump into the discussion about resisting the use of technology — determining when we choose to actively resist tech is an important part of our conversation in this module!
  • Pick a resource from one of the other modules (Formats & Modalities or Care & Equity) and notice any connections to what we’ve been talking about in our own module. (Or spend sometime looking around the questions, resources, and participant portfolios of those modules — get to know the folks you’ll be spending July in conversation with!)

As always, if you have any question or concerns, reach out on Teams!

“Design Bites” are a special kind of portfolio post. They’re an opportunity for us to share practical design ideas that we’ve tried or are planning to try. As DF participants add more Bites, we will assemble a library of these that will be searchable by type, tags, and modules.

You must be a registered participant in Design Forward to complete this activity.
